Hey everyone! I just built my very first PC and it's been a challenging yet rewarding experience. Today, my monitor arrived, and I'm in the process of finishing up Windows installation. At the beginning, I installed Windows without an internet connection, but now that I'm trying to connect using an ethernet cable from my switch to my PC, it shows a connection on the screen, yet I'm not able to access the internet. I've tried installing the LAN drivers for my Gigabyte B550M motherboard, used command prompt, changed the IP settings, and went through various troubleshooting steps without success. My setup seems fine and everything is in good shape, but for some reason, it's still saying it's connected to the LAN but not to the internet. Also, please save the comments about choosing Windows over Linux—I'm perfectly happy with my choice!

Try running the command `ifconfig` in the command prompt and check the output. It might help diagnose your issue. Also, make sure your network card is properly detected in the device manager. Sometimes, it can be a simple driver issue if it’s not showing correctly.
It sounds like your gateway address might not be set up properly. You should be using DHCP to automatically configure your network settings instead of manually assigning them. Give that a try!
