Struggling to Find a Coding Job – Any Advice?

I've been coding for over two years, mostly on my own, and I can build projects that I'm interested in. Despite sending out countless job applications, I'm not getting any responses, which is making me feel hopeless. Currently, I'm stuck in a restaurant job and it's taking a toll on me physically and mentally. I'd love any advice or mentorship that could help improve my situation. Just to add, I mainly work with frontend technologies like JavaScript, React, and Node.js, along with some backend experience. I've done some freelance projects, like simple landing pages, but I'm still searching for more substantial work. As an immigrant living in a big city, I think it makes the job hunt even tougher. I'm unsure if I can share my portfolio or resume here, but I really need some guidance and support.

It’s definitely a tough job market right now, even for those with degrees. If you don’t have one, your resume might be getting filtered out before a human even sees it. I checked out your portfolio and it looks cool, but it might help to organize your projects in a clearer way, highlighting the skills you used for each one. Just keep pushing through!

I totally get it; job hunting can be a headache these days. Make sure your LinkedIn profile is up to date and that you're filling it with all your skills. Try to set lower expectations at first—any job is better than nothing! Reaching out to recruiters and fellow engineers can also lead to better chances than just applying cold. Keep your chin up; persistence pays off!

Exactly! Networking has always been crucial. Attending career meetups can really give you an edge. I’ve found that personal connections often lead to opportunities that aren’t even advertised.

Networking is key in situations like yours. Try reaching out to personal contacts, attending local developer meetups, and letting everyone know you're looking for work. You might just find someone willing to help you out or refer you to an opportunity.
