Hey everyone! I'm facing a frustrating issue with my new PC where I'm unable to install any operating system. When I try to install Windows, the process starts fine but always fails at 20%. I've also tried Linux Mint, but it just hangs on the Mint logo and never gets to the live environment. I've looked up a few potential fixes online, including some adjustments in the BIOS, but nothing has worked so far. The only time I got into the Mint live environment was by using the compatibility mode option. Here are the specs of my build:
**RAM**: Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 3200 MHz 32 GB (2x16GB)
**Motherboard**: MSI B550-A PRO
**CPU**: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7GHz
**GPU**: Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 4060 Ti TWIN EDGE 16GB GDDR6 DLSS3
**Power Supply**: MSI MAG A650BN 650W 80 Plus Bronze
**SSD**: WD BLACK SN770 1TB NVMe SSD.
If you need any more information, just let me know!

Did you try running MemTest to check for memory issues? It might help you identify any problems with your RAM that could be causing the installation to fail.
Double-check what you're installing from—sometimes the USB flash drive can be the problem. If you can, try using a different USB stick from a reliable brand. Also, have you made sure to adjust the RAM timings in your BIOS?
I bought a recent USB and even tried an older one, but both had the same result.
Make sure you delete all partitions on the drive you want to install the OS on. Sometimes remnants of old partitions can lead to installation issues.
Yes, I made sure to delete all partitions before trying to install.
When you say it fails at 20%, can you tell us what error message you get? Just that it says the Windows install failed? Sometimes knowing the exact wording can help diagnose the issue better.
Yes, it always says that Windows install failed with no other details.
It sounds like you've been through a lot trying to get this working! A good first step would be to reseat your RAM and NVMe SSD to make sure everything is properly connected. If that doesn't help, you might want to run a memory test to check for any errors. If all of that fails, it could be an issue with your hardware like the CPU or motherboard.
How do I check for memory errors?
Not yet, but it's on my list to do next. Someone else suggested it too!
