Struggling to Update My Gigabyte Aorus B850 WiFi BIOS – Any Tips?

I'm working with a Gigabyte Aorus B850 WiFi motherboard and I'm having a tough time updating the BIOS. Despite several attempts, every time I try to update, my computer just restarts and loads the original BIOS version "F6" it came with. The current BIOS version is "11a". I've tried multiple methods including: 1) Using Q Flash with a USB stick, which verifies the file but then boots normally; 2) Setting the USB as the main boot drive; 3) Attempting the update through the Gigabyte Control Center, which also fails; 4) Trying three different USB sticks from various brands and formatting them on another computer; 5) Renaming the update file to "gigabyte.bin" and using the Q Flash button, but no luck. I'm curious if anyone else has faced similar issues or knows how to resolve this. Although my system runs great, I prefer to have the latest firmware.

You might be trying to use the wrong BIOS for your motherboard revision. Sometimes, BIOS versions that end in letters are specific to different revisions. For example, 'F6' could be for one revision, while 'F8a' would be for another. Mixing them up can lead to update issues.

I thought about that, but I’ve checked and it seems correct according to Gigabyte’s documentation.

Make sure you’re extracting the BIOS file from the zip archive before putting it onto the USB. Also, ensure that the USB is formatted to FAT32. Sometimes re-downloading the BIOS or trying another version can also make a difference. It might not seem necessary now, but having the latest updates can enhance security and functionality.

Yes, I formatted to FAT32 and extracted the files. The BIOS does recognize it during validation, but it just boots normally after reboot.

Are you plugging the USB into the designated BIOS update USB port? Sometimes, there’s a specific port for updates on the back of the motherboard. It’s also a good idea to navigate to the Q Flash feature directly in the BIOS and try updating from there.

It’s crucial to double-check that you've downloaded the correct BIOS update for your specific motherboard version. There are several revisions of the Aorus B850 WiFi, so make sure you match it perfectly. Once you confirm that, try updating again and see if that helps!

I've verified the revision and it appears to be the right one. The BIOS does recognize the update, but it just boots back to the original after rebooting.

Have you tried directly updating the BIOS from within the BIOS? That method generally gives a progress status and should alert you if anything goes wrong during the process.

That's how I initially attempted the update, but it seems like it just goes through the motions without actually changing anything.
