I've recently transitioned from a Dell environment where I used monitors as docking stations with USB-C power for my laptop and DVI-out for dual monitors. Now that I'm using Lenovo's T and X series laptops, I'm finding the Lenovo docks quite frustrating. It seems like moving between different models, like the 40AF and 40AY docks, causes a lot of issues, and I've been troubleshooting with updates and reboots, which isn't ideal. I'm considering switching to Dell's monitor and dock combo or looking for a reliable alternative from Lenovo. Has anyone else experienced this? What are your thoughts or recommendations?

I switched our company to Dell dock monitors after a recommendation, and I love the all-in-one design. It minimizes points of failure and looks tidy too. We still use a few Lenovo X1 Carbons without any connection issues with Dell docks.
We ditched Lenovo for Targus docks and have had a much smoother experience since. Definitely worth considering if you're facing constant issues with the Lenovo setup.
While I think using USB-C monitors as docks is a great idea, they can get really pricey if you want anything above 1920x1080. Ultimately, switching back to a standard dock with regular monitors has turned out to be much more cost-effective for us. We now rely on the Dell WD22TB4 docks, and they’ve been performing really well.
We've had several Lenovo Thunderbolt 3/4 docks, and I've noticed the included cables are pretty short, which can lead to connectivity issues like monitors glitching or losing network. I switched to buying slightly longer cables from Amazon, and that seems to have solved most of the problems for us.
We've deployed over 200 of the Lenovo 40B00135US model and have had zero issues. It's been solid for our needs so far.
