Struggling with Unreliable WiFi While Gaming

I've been really stressed about my WiFi situation. I enjoy gaming in my spare time, but I live in a semi-rural area and I have Spectrum internet, which tends to cut out unexpectedly—sometimes this affects the entire house, not just my connection. It's frustrating because I often worry about getting disconnected mid-game. I'm currently using a Spectrum modem in my room, but it's been a source of major headaches over the years. I'm open to buying a new solution if it can help improve my situation.

Definitely get in touch with Spectrum. I live in a remote area too, but my service is usually fine. I ended up upgrading to one of their newer WiFi 7 routers, and it made a difference for me.

If your ISP is the real problem, buying new equipment probably won't help much. One option is to get a dual WAN router and consider signing up for a second connection with a different provider for failover.

Do you have access to fiber internet? If not, have you tried contacting them to see if the problem is on their end? Sometimes living in a rural area limits your options. If Spectrum is your only choice, satellite internet might be another route, but it has its own drawbacks.

You might want to look into a mesh network system. I have four Decos set up in my house, and my connection has been rock solid since!

Have you tried using an Ethernet cable? If your modem is in your room, that might provide a more stable connection. Otherwise, you should definitely reach out to Spectrum. Their service can be pretty spotty, so don't hesitate to let them know you're not happy with it.
