I've had a couple of old Microsoft accounts for over a decade, and now I'm in a tight spot. One of them, the one linked to my Xbox, got locked out, and when I tried to unlock it, it sent a verification code to my oldest account, which is also locked. They back each other up, and now I'm in this frustrating cycle where Microsoft won't recognize my details or my answers to security questions. It feels like there's no way out! Is there anyone I can actually talk to about this? Plus, assuming I can get through this, what's the best way to phase out these old emails? Do I literally have to change them everywhere I've used them or can I just let them sit there?

Unfortunately, there's not much a human can do in this case. The system is pretty strict, and it's designed to not accept any manual overrides. If you can't get through the recovery, it might be a dead end.
Have you tried accessing your account through a different method, like a mail client instead of a web browser? It could be worth a shot to see if that helps!
While I can't really help with your current lockout situation, I wanted to let you know that you can actually create email aliases for your Microsoft account. This way, you won't have to start a brand new account if you want to change your primary email. It can make managing your accounts a lot easier in the future!
That sounds helpful! How exactly do you create those aliases?
