I've been having really good wifi performance, usually around 600-900mbps right next to the router. We have a booster on the first floor with an ethernet cable connecting it to my PC on the second floor, where I typically get speeds of 200-350mbps. However, since Sunday morning, everything has changed, and my speeds are terrible. I'm getting about 200mbps next to the router and only 40-80mbps on my PC. It's extremely frustrating when trying to download or open anything. I've already restarted the router and checked the devices connected through the wifi app, but everything seems normal. Just to add, my friend and I were trying to install a VPN on my PC over the weekend because we got banned from a certain website—could that be related? My wifi provider is Sky. Any advice would be appreciated!

It sounds frustrating! If you haven't already, check your router settings. Sometimes, changes in configurations or issues with firmware can cause sudden speed drops. Another tip is to make sure no unauthorized devices are connecting to your network—they can hog bandwidth. You can also try testing your speeds at various times during the day to see if there's a pattern. Good luck!
First things first, it might be worth checking for any malware affecting your devices. Try disconnecting all devices except one and testing your speed. If one device still shows slow speeds, that device could be the issue, possibly infected. If both device speeds are slow, the problem likely lies with your router. In that case, you might want to factory reset it or consider getting a new one.
