I'm really curious about switching to Linux but I'm not sure if it's the right move for me. As a college student, I'm concerned about compatibility, especially with office applications not working well on Linux. What distributions would be a good fit for a beginner like me?

For migrating options, there are lots of resources available. Look into beginner-friendly distros like Kubuntu, Fedora KDE, or Zorin. They all work well on different hardware types. Also, if you're using Google Docs or LibreOffice, you'll be set for your schoolwork.

You could use LibreOffice for your office needs; it handles documents, spreadsheets, and presentations pretty well. Also, don't forget to install the ttf-mscorefonts-installer to get the Microsoft fonts if you need them!

Zorin OS might be a great fit for you. It has a similar layout to Windows, which makes it easier for new users to adapt. Plus, it runs well on older machines too!

I recommend checking out Ubuntu or Linux Mint. They're pretty user-friendly for newcomers. One thing to consider is the Desktop Environment you choose, so pick one that you like visually. Just make sure to back up your data before making the switch. Good luck!

I recently switched to Linux Mint and it was a smooth transition from Windows 10. I think you'll find it pretty intuitive!
