Hey everyone! I built my PC a few years ago when GPUs were hard to come by, and I'm starting to see some performance issues in games. I suspect my CPU might be the culprit, and I'm looking for opinions on how to upgrade it. Here are my specs for reference:

- GPU: RTX 3060
- CPU: Intel Core i5-10400F @ 2.90GHz, 6 cores
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B560 HD3
- RAM: 16GB

Thanks in advance for your insights!

Are you checking PCPartPicker? Also, where are you located and what's your budget? It'd also help to know more about your motherboard and the specs of your RAM for better advice.

I think it's time to consider a platform upgrade to AM5! That would really help with performance. You might check out this build I linked.

Totally agree with that! If you can swing it, the Ryzen 7 7700 is a solid choice as an upgrade.

Forget Intel! I recommend switching to a Ryzen 7 CPU. You'll also have the option to upgrade your GPU down the line. By the way, I'm selling a 4060 Ti at a good price if you're interested!

Your CPU definitely seems like the main bottleneck here. If your 3060 is the 6GB version, it could be both CPU and GPU limiting you. You could consider a side-grade to a 3080 12GB or even a 4060 Ti to boost performance. Just make sure your power supply is at least 700 watts if you go this route!

For CPUs, I’d recommend looking at AM5 options like the 7600X or 7700. If you’re on a medium budget, the 7600X3D is a great pick, and the 7800X3D is awesome if you can spend a bit more.
