I'm putting together a new PC and wanted to get some feedback on the parts I'm considering. I've already got 2 SSDs and 2 monitors, and I'm reusing my GPU and air cooler. Here's what I'm looking at:
- AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor
- Gigabyte X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 ATX AM5 Motherboard
- G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) DDR5-6400 CL32 Memory
- NZXT H9 Elite ATX Mid Tower Case
- be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
- Noctua NH-D15 chromax.black 82.52 CFM CPU Cooler
- MSI Radeon RX 6800 XT Gaming X Trio 16G Video Card
By the way, the SSDs held Windows before with an older build. Will I need to reinstall Windows on them after the new build, or can I keep the existing installation? I'm open to suggestions if anyone has ideas for different parts!

Are you planning to upgrade your GPU soon? The X870E motherboard is high-end, but I'm curious about what features made you choose it?
For gaming, your GPU is slightly older, but it still performs decently at 1440p. You might want to look into a B650 motherboard instead to save some cash. The 6000 MHz RAM will be enough for most tasks!
I’ve heard the GPU is good for 1440p, and since I already have it, I’m not too keen on upgrading just yet. I’ll check out the B650 mobo you mentioned!
If your SSDs came from an older PC that had Windows on them, then you can technically boot from them. However, if you had an OEM license tied to that hardware, it might deactivate and show a watermark. I suggest doing a clean reinstall after backing up your important files, since changing hardware can lead to driver issues.
Thanks for the heads-up! Since my SSDs have Windows already, I guess I need to figure out how to clear them before the new build.
The GPU should hold up well for now, but I'm open to upgrades later. I saw that the X870E has great reviews, so I thought it’d be a solid choice for future-proofing!
