Thoughts on Transferring Domains to GoDaddy?

I just wrapped up moving all my domains from CSC Global to GoDaddy. I know that GoDaddy often gets a bad rap as a registrar, and there are plenty of negative opinions out there, but I didn't have much choice. Out of the 20 domains I transferred, six of them had TLDs that weren't supported by Namecheap or any other registrars I looked into, so GoDaddy was my pick. Just to clarify, I'm only using GoDaddy as a domain registrar. My setup has DNS managed through Cloudflare and my hosting is handled by Shopify. How does that sound? Also, I have another account with GoDaddy that holds 13 more domains, where the DNS is currently managed by GoDaddy itself. I'm considering consolidating everything into one account. Would that affect pricing or domain management significantly? Any advice would be appreciated!

Namecheap isn’t your only option. While it’s kind of the conventional wisdom to avoid GoDaddy due to their reputation, some people still use them. If I were in your shoes, I’d probably look for something more reliable, even if it means a bit of hassle in switching.

I've found GoDaddy to be a bit frustrating, mainly due to their constantly changing and slow user interface which complicates simple tasks. When I do buy a domain there, I switch the name servers to Cloudflare right away, which makes it easier to deal with things.

If you're not hosting on GoDaddy, is it still worth considering another registrar? I mean, Cloudflare does handle a lot of stuff!

Exactly, I just use Cloudflare for everything from the start.

I’m not entirely clear on what you're asking. How would merging two accounts really change your pricing or management? It seems straightforward unless you have to toggle between accounts a lot.

Your setup looks solid! You’re going with reputable companies. I've used GoDaddy successfully from 1999 until earlier this year without issues. I moved to DNSExit for better savings and organization. Keeping your registrar and DNS separate is debated, but I don't think it’s a huge deal; if there's an outage anywhere, your site goes down either way.

Seriously, I would recommend stopping using GoDaddy altogether if you can. There are better options out there!
