Hey everyone! I'm gearing up to build a new PC primarily for 10-bit 4K video editing and some gaming on high-ultra settings for BF6. My current setup has served me well for about 12 years with a few upgrades, so I'm quite out of the loop on the latest components.

My existing specs are:
- RAM: 32GB DDR3
- CPU: i7-4790K 4.0GHz
- GPU: 3080 10GB Founders Edition
- OS: Windows 10

For the new build, which I'm planning to spend around $1300, here's the current list:
- CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus
- Motherboard: SI Z890 MAG Tomahawk WiFi LGA 1851
- RAM: Crucial Pro 32GB DDR5-6400 (prices being high lately for DDR5)
- CPU Cooler: Arctic Liquid Freezer III Pro 360
- Storage: Samsung 990 Pro 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe (I have 5TB in my current SSDs)
- GPU: Keeping my 3080 10GB
- Case: Montech Air 903 Max ATX
- PSU: MSI 850 Gold
- OS: Windows 11

I'm looking for any thoughts or suggestions on my build. Especially since I plan to use this for the next 5-7 years. Appreciate the help!

Honestly, I don’t recommend building a new system right now with how memory prices are. If you can manage, using Linux like Lubuntu could help you wait it out before making a new build. That said, your current setup seems to really be stretching thin, so it might be worth the upgrade regardless!

Yeah, I’ve been struggling with performance too. Running even basic games has been a hassle! I can't wait to upgrade!

You might want to reconsider the CPU choice! Instead of the 7900x, the Intel Ultra 7 270K or the 265K are great options that are usually cheaper and outperform the 7900x in gaming and productivity. And for your use case, you don’t really need a fancy cooler; a simpler one would do just fine! Also, check if the 990 Pro fits your budget since it can be a bit pricey unless you're dealing with large file transfers regularly.

Yeah, those 270K bundles are a good deal on sites like Newegg!

Good point! I found a great combo at Micro Center myself and saved a nice chunk of change!

Have you considered what software you'll be using? If you’re doing a lot of video editing, Intel's QuickSync or Nvidia's NVENC encoders could really step up your game. Pairing an Intel CPU with your Nvidia GPU might give you that extra edge you need for encoding tasks!

For sure! I noticed my older setup struggling with Adobe programs, so I’m definitely leaning toward Intel and Nvidia now.
