Hey everyone! I'm new to the world of gaming PCs and just picked up the Alienware Area 51 with an RTX 5090. Having grown up using Macs, this is my first experience with Windows, and I want to make sure I don't mess anything up. I've managed to figure out a few things, but I'm looking for any tips or advice for someone completely new to Windows. Thanks!

Honestly, if you’re feeling anxious about making mistakes, consider downloading virtual machine software on your Mac to install Windows 11. This way, you can familiarize yourself with Windows without the fear of messing things up on your new gaming rig! It might not be the same experience, but it'll help ease your transition.

That's a neat idea, but I've already got the PC! Just trying to get used to it now!

Just remember to regularly check for driver updates, especially if it’s a prebuilt machine. Your PC should have an auto-update feature for drivers, but it’s a good habit to check in on it every now and then. As long as you're not messing with BIOS settings that you don’t understand, you should be good to go!

One important tip is to make sure your monitor is connected to the GPU, not the motherboard. If the monitor is plugged into the motherboard's HDMI, you won’t get the best performance. Also, dive into your display settings and confirm that your refresh rate is set to the max value, especially if you're using a 240Hz monitor. It's usually set to 60Hz by default, and you want to make sure you’re getting the full experience!

How do I check the refresh rate on my monitor?
