Hey everyone! I'm relatively new to the DevOps world, having just graduated from college. I'm currently on the hunt for DevOps positions, but I'm running into a wall since most listings require 5+ years of experience, and entry-level roles are quite scarce. I've been applying non-stop, even tweaking my resume using ChatGPT Premium to better fit the job descriptions, but I'm still getting a lot of rejection emails.
I hold certifications in AWS and RHCSA (about to finish up my RHCE), and I've completed several self-projects using Terraform, Ansible, EC2, Kubernetes, and EKS. My only work experience is a year in software development back in my home country, which is Nepal, but now I'm looking for opportunities here in Canada. Any advice or leads would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Starting off as a systems administrator or Linux admin can be a great way to break into the field. It doesn’t always have to be DevOps right from the get-go. Just getting your foot in the door in IT can lead to more opportunities later.
Just a heads up, it's a tough market out there for new grads, but don’t lose hope! Consider making a scrubbed version of your resume to get feedback on it. Make sure not to include any sensitive personal information before sharing.
Thanks for the tip—I already did that!
Breaking into DevOps can be challenging, especially with those experience requirements. I suggest leveraging your AWS and RHCSA certifications in your applications. It might be beneficial to focus on networking rather than just applications. Attending meetups or local tech groups in Canada could help. Volunteering for open-source projects or smaller businesses can provide you with valuable hands-on experience and important connections. Also, connect with tech recruiters who might know of entry-level opportunities.

Okay, I'll definitely consider that option!
