Hey everyone! I have an upcoming interview for an entry-level Cloud Engineer position, and I'm a bit nervous. I have 4-5 years of IT experience, but I want to make sure I'm well-prepared for the technical parts of the interview. What are the best strategies to prepare for this type of interview? I'd also appreciate any good resources or tips that could help me out!

As a cloud engineer, it's essential to know about DevOps practices, infrastructure as code (IaC), and automation. These are crucial skills that differentiate cloud engineers from sys admin roles. You should also understand the DevOps pipeline, how to set it up, and how IaC works. It’s all about integration and automation in the cloud environment.

Thanks for the insights! I’ll definitely focus on those areas during my preparation.

For entry-level cloud engineer interviews, they’re usually not just looking for a walking Azure encyclopedia. Instead, they want to see if you can think critically, troubleshoot issues, and handle real-world scenarios effectively. You should focus on understanding the core concepts like RBAC, VNets, subnets, NSGs, public vs. private access, and basic compute options.

Be prepared for scenario-based questions like 'How would you deploy this?' or 'How would you monitor and debug if something went wrong?' And don’t forget to have a couple of real stories from your current jobs ready to share—talk about a migration you’ve done or an incident you resolved.

If you can, build a small Azure lab to play around with; even a weekend project can give you great talking points for the interview!

Great advice! I was really busy but managed to put together a few projects during late nights, and referencing them during my interview helped me immensely. Good luck with your prep! I also have a demo project that I can share if you're interested.

Absolutely! They want someone with the right mindset rather than just technical skills. Working on mini labs is great; it shows initiative! And regarding your stories, don’t hesitate to include personal projects too—they can showcase your passion and problem-solving skills.

Can you clarify what the technical interview will look like? Is it a skills assessment where you need to complete a specific task, or is it primarily question-based? Just checking because there's a difference, especially between a pre-screening HR interview and the technical one.

Also, make sure you take care of yourself before the interview—get good sleep, eat well, and walk in with confidence (but not arrogance). Listen carefully to the questions. It'll help keep your nerves in check!

Definitely agree on taking care of yourself! Listening is key too. Oh, and maybe watch something light-hearted before the interview to boost your mood—it helps to go in smiling!

Yes, thanks for the tips! To clarify, this is after the initial HR call, and they’ll be checking my technical skills and Azure knowledge. I’m doing research but figured it would be great to get insights from the community.
