Tips for Reusing M.2 NVMe Drives in a New PC Build

Hey everyone! I'm putting together my new PC build and just waiting for the case to arrive next Wednesday. Here are the specs I'm working with:

- GPU: Rx 9070 XT XFX Swft
- CPU: Ryzen 7 9800 X3D
- Motherboard: Gigabyte B850M Wifi 6E
- CPU Fan: Thermaltake Phantom Spirit 120 SE
- PSU: Corsair SFX850 RM
- Storage: Reusing Gen 4 WD Black 2TB and WD Blue 1TB from my old build
- RAM: Klevv Cras V DDR5 RGB 2x16 GB
- Case: Jonsbo Jonsplus Z20

This is my second build, so I have some experience, but I wanted to ask if there's anything special I should keep in mind this time around. Since I'm reusing the NVMe drives, will it be straightforward to just swap them over and continue where I left off? I'm not sure which drive has Windows on it, and I don't have the USB stick for installation. Will that be a problem? Do I need to reinstall Windows? Also, should I flash the BIOS on my new motherboard since it's brand new? Lastly, are there any issues with moving from Intel to AM5 regarding the NVMe drives? Thanks a lot for your advice!

Since you're switching from Intel to a completely different architecture with AMD, it’s definitely a good idea to reinstall Windows on your OS drive. It’ll save you from potential headaches down the line. Clean starts can make your system feel a lot smoother!

One thing to keep in mind is that you might run into driver conflicts between your old Intel setup and the new AMD system, which could impact performance. A clean install of Windows usually solves these types of issues, so I’d recommend doing that if you can.
