Hey everyone! I'm new to this forum. After getting really frustrated with Windows 11—especially with the Game Bar issues and that Gaming Copilot window messing up my screen—I'm ready to jump into Linux. I've previously replaced the firmware on my old HP Chromebook x360 14b with Xubuntu, and I've been enjoying it a lot; the look, the clean interface, and the privacy aspects are great. Now, I want to find a suitable Linux distribution for my Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15AMN7. I'm mostly a general user looking to do regular work with a few specific apps, but I've also been dabbling in some advanced tasks and feel pretty good about basic commands. What distros do you recommend for someone like me? What have your experiences been?

Honestly, since you're already enjoying Xubuntu, I'd say just stick with it! Each distro has its ups and downs, so if there's anything bothering you about Xubuntu, let us know—we can suggest alternatives. Otherwise, every recommendation is just personal preference!
Check out Tuxedo OS; it's an Ubuntu-based distro with a Plasma desktop that I love. I've tried around 20 different distros, yet this one always feels the most complete for me. Everything generally works out of the box and it's really stable! Fedora's good too but I've hit a few snags there. You might want to give Tuxedo a shot!
The best approach is to download a few distros and test them out. Some popular ones include Linux Mint, Zorin OS, Pop! OS, Fedora, and MX Linux, especially on older hardware. You might also explore Ubuntu and its flavors. Remember, your desktop environment choice can significantly affect your experience too. Just keep in mind that Linux Mint is stable but not always the latest, which is something to consider if you have new hardware!
If you’re not into heavy gaming or 3D work, Linux Mint is a solid choice. It's user-friendly and great for general use!

Thanks for the tip! I actually went with Mint Cinnamon since I've been enjoying it. It's working great for me so far!
