Trouble Accessing Huntington Bank Through QuickBooks

Hey everyone! I work in IT support and I've run into a bit of a snag. One of our clients is having trouble using QuickBooks for banking transactions. They access QuickBooks via a remote server, and when they try to log into Huntington Bank's website through the QuickBooks app, they keep getting denied access. I'm wondering if this could be related to the remote server settings. Is there anything I can do to help solve this issue? Would whitelisting Huntington Bank on a firewall work? Is this something I can manage on my end?

If you're using a QuickBooks connection to pull transactions from the bank, the client may need to re-authenticate and complete all their two-factor authentication steps. You could also try using a regular browser on the remote desktop to log in to the bank to see if that works. If Huntington still denies access, contacting their support is the next step.

Definitely verify where the access denied error is coming from. Depending on that, you’ll need to reach out to either Huntington Bank for access issues or the provider hosting the remote server. It’s important to know if this is a new setup or if things were working fine before.

It’s possible that the access issue is related to how the remote server is configured. Have you checked the VPN connection? If this is above your skill level, it might be best to escalate this to your supervisor, especially since the client needs QuickBooks access quickly. Also, using QuickBooks to navigate banking sites is unusual, so double-check on that too.

I feel ya! We support a local charity running on-prem QuickBooks, and I’ll tell you, moving to a cloud-based system would be a game-changer. It’s frustrating when someone is wary of the cloud, but sometimes it comes down to slow internet speeds making cloud solutions tough.

If the bank's system is blocking you, have the client contact their QB hosting provider. If you’re getting server errors in your browser, then the bank is aware of the connection but is denying it. They might need to allow-list the environment that’s hosting QuickBooks.
