Trouble Booting Ubuntu on HP Omen After Installation

I've been trying to set up Ubuntu on my HP Omen gaming desktop, but I keep running into issues. I installed Ubuntu 24.04.4 LTS on a WD Black SN7100 NVMe SSD using a bootable USB drive. The idea was to eventually dual boot with Windows, but when I attempt to boot from the SSD, the screen just goes black for a moment and displays 'reset system' briefly before restarting. This cycle continues indefinitely. My PC specs are as follows: AMD Ryzen 3 5300G processor, 8GB of RAM, and a GeForce 1650 Super graphics card. Currently, I have Windows 11 installed on the internal drive. What could be going wrong here?

It sounds like you're encountering a common issue where Windows overwrites the bootloader for Ubuntu (known as grub). Usually, it's recommended to install Windows first, then Linux. Since you've installed Ubuntu second, I suggest using a Linux live USB to run a tool like boot-repair. This can help rewrite grub to recognize both operating systems. Alternatively, consider installing Windows again first. Just a heads up—make sure your data is backed up before making these changes!

You mentioned that you disabled secure boot in your BIOS, which is a good step since it can interfere with Linux installs. When you installed Windows, if you're using the same SSD but from an external dock, that might confuse the boot process. Physically installing the SSD inside the PC might help. Sometimes the boot configuration gets mixed up with external drives, especially if the partitions are being misrecognized.
