Hey everyone! I'm staying at a motel for a week and I'm having a hard time connecting my laptop to their open Wi-Fi. A few days ago, I finally got it to work after about an hour of struggling. Now, when I connect, it says there's no internet access, even though there's no password or login required. The Windows diagnostic tool says it can't reach the default gateway. I've tried pretty much every fix I found online. When I asked the motel management for help, they suggested I change some security settings for monitoring usage, but I'm not seeing any options for that. I've had success connecting by disconnecting and reconnecting multiple times before, but that's not working now. Any suggestions or tips would be awesome, thanks!

Have you considered using your phone as a hotspot? That way, you can bypass the motel's Wi-Fi altogether. It might save you some frustration!
If it's a small motel, maybe just ask them to reboot their router? Sometimes that totally clears up any connection issues. I had a similar situation in a hotel abroad; they were reluctant at first, but it worked like a charm!
I might try that, although the staff seemed pretty annoyed when I asked for help before. But since I'm currently connected to mobile, I doubt it's the router causing the issue.
I had the same problem at a motel once. The staff didn’t know how to fix it, but eventually, they reset the router, and I was good to go. You could give that a shot!

Yeah, I managed to connect my phone by toggling the Wi-Fi off and on. It worked on my laptop before, but now it's not helping. Not sure what's up with that.
