Trouble Getting My New GPU to Work with My Old PC

I recently bought an Asus Nvidia GeForce 210 to upgrade my old PC, but there was no signal when I plugged it in. I first thought the GPU might be faulty, so I removed it and tried to boot the PC with the integrated graphics, but still no signal. In a bit of a panic, I took out the CMOS battery and put it back in, but that didn't help either. I even checked the RAM, but the PC won't boot up to the BIOS screen. What steps should I take to troubleshoot this?

It could be a connection issue. First, double-check if your monitor is plugged into the correct port. Your old PC likely has multiple video outputs—there's one for the integrated graphics and others for the GPU. Make sure you're plugged into the right output for the GPU. Also, if you're not getting anything on the screen, check if the monitor is working fine by testing it with another device.

It helps to confirm the make and model of your PC. Knowing that you have a Lenovo ThinkCentre M78 is useful, particularly because older PCs can sometimes have compatibility issues with newer GPUs. If your system boots back into integrated graphics, ensure that the BIOS settings are properly configured to support the discrete GPU. You might also want to reset the BIOS to factory settings if you're still having trouble.
