I was trying to sign into YouTube via the Google sign-in page as I usually do, but this time I didn't receive the verification code after trying to resend it three times. After a while, my router blocked my phone from accessing a website that seemed suspicious. I turned off both data and Wi-Fi on my phone, cleared the cache and data in Firefox, and ran basic virus scans using Malwarebytes and AVG. After re-enabling data, my phone attempted to open an unexpected link in Chrome and, once again, that was blocked.
During this time, I reset my Google password and signed out of all devices except my phone. After waiting and turning data and Wi-Fi back on, I still received no notification. I'm wondering what on earth is going on here and how I can prevent this from happening in the future.

It seems like your phone might have malware that was blocking the verification texts to keep you locked out of your account. Those random redirects you saw were probably just the malware acting up. Make sure to keep your phone updated and avoid clicking on suspicious links to help protect yourself.
It’s really strange that you faced those verification problems. Clearing your browser caches might have helped, but be wary of any weird behavior your phone starts showing. Just to be safe, try resetting your settings or even reinstalling the apps that seem problematic. Always keep an eye on what apps you install.
It sounds like you might need a backup verification method. Have you tried getting an SMS code for verification? Sometimes it helps to have that option enabled as a backup to the phone prompt.
