I'm facing some serious issues with my Vivobook 16X. I bought this high-end laptop two years ago for school, equipped with an RTX 4060, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. Unfortunately, I've already had to send it in for repairs twice to get the motherboard and OLED screen swapped out. Now that the manufacturer's warranty has expired, Best Buy is suggesting that it might be cheaper to just buy a new one, which is frustrating since it originally cost me around $1,800.
I don't have much experience with laptop repairs, but I do have a good engineering background and mechanical experience with things like cars and Raspberry Pi devices. Here's the issue: when I try to turn it on, there are no lights on the status indicators—even when it's charging. Holding the power button for 60 seconds hasn't helped either. I've also tried disconnecting the main battery from the motherboard and powering it directly with both a USB-C and barrel charger. Does anyone have any advice on what else I could try to get this laptop working again?

It sounds like a frustrating situation! First things first, have you checked the model number on your laptop? It’s usually found on the base. If you're not familiar with laptop repairs, I highly recommend taking it to a computer technician if possible.
If you want to try troubleshooting it yourself, I suggest removing all components from the motherboard, including the RAM and storage. Then, just connect an external keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Plug in the power adapter and see if the motherboard will give you any beep codes when you attempt to power it on without RAM. If you hear a beep, that’s a good sign, and then you can add one RAM module back at a time to see if it can boot from there. Good luck!

I've seen similar advice on other forums. Just to add, you might want to check if any of the tubing gets warm after you’ve plugged it in and disconnected the battery. If nothing heats up, that might indicate a deeper issue. I'm checking out the user manual too, so I'll share any useful tips that I find!
