Hey everyone, I'm really frustrated with my computer's Wi-Fi connection and could use some help. I have a tower computer that's about two years old, and I usually don't have any issues except for this Wi-Fi problem. I'm connected via a USB Wi-Fi dongle. I live in an apartment with two roommates who have no Wi-Fi issues, and another friend with a similar setup has a stable connection too. My phone and tablet both work fine on the same network.
Here's the deal: my PC's connection is super shaky. Sometimes I get a decent speed of 240MB per second, but it regularly drops to a crawl at 2MB and occasionally disconnects completely, then reconnects. Oddly enough, when my connection is at zero, and the PC goes to sleep, it often jumps back to a good connection when I wake it.
I'm at a loss for what to do. If I can't resolve this, I might have to send my computer for repairs, which feels unnecessary since it only seems to be this Wi-Fi issue. Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hey! Sounds like a frustrating situation. Just so we're on the same page, when you say "key," are you referring to a USB Wi-Fi dongle? If that's the case, try to plug it into a different USB port, especially one at the back of your PC. Sometimes that can help with connectivity issues. Also, make sure your drivers are up to date. If that doesn't work, you might want to consider getting a better-quality Wi-Fi dongle as a last resort.
I know this sounds tedious, but have you tried updating the drivers for your Wi-Fi dongle? It could really help. If you plugged in your roommate's dongle and still had issues, there might be something going on with your PC's USB ports or the way it's handling the connection. I’d check both the device settings and the power management settings to see if they're causing any conflicts.
