Trouble with Windows 11: Sluggish Performance and Memory Spikes

Hey everyone! I'm a student studying 3D animation and VFX, and I'm having some serious issues with my PC. I built it in 2020 and have updated almost everything except for my GPU, which is a GeForce RTX 2080 Super. My CPU is a Ryzen 9 5900XT, and I've got 64GB of RAM. Things were running smoothly, but ever since I upgraded to Windows 11, my computer has been a nightmare. It takes forever to start, crashes randomly, and my memory usage is always at least 10% even when nothing's open. The worst part is that when I'm using Maya (2024), I experience massive spikes in memory usage that freeze my whole system, even with very light projects that my MacBook Air (M1) handles just fine. It's also affected my gaming, which I don't do much of, but it's become frustrating. I'm really considering resetting my PC, but I'm not sure if that would help. I suspect Windows is the main issue since the problems started after the upgrade, but all my RAM sticks are detected fine. I've heard some bad things about Armoury Crate; could it be causing these problems? I'm feeling pretty lost here and would love any advice to get my PC back to its old self!

Resetting your PC could help. Sometimes upgrading an OS doesn't go as smoothly as a fresh install. Just make sure you've updated all your programs after upgrading. Also, ditch any unnecessary software, especially Armoury Crate. Revo Uninstaller is a great tool to clear out bloatware—don't forget to back up your files before resetting!

Thanks for the tips! I've actually updated all my programs already since I've been troubleshooting for a bit. I'll get Revo Uninstaller and see if that helps!

Are you using four RAM sticks? If so, that might be part of the problem. And definitely, get rid of Armoury Crate—it's known for being bloatware.

Yeah, I'm using four Corsair Vengeance LPX sticks with 16GB each. I'll be uninstalling Armoury Crate for sure!
