Troubleshooting ‘No Signal’ Issues with My New PC and Display Port Cable

I'm having a frustrating issue with my new PC's connection to my monitor. I bought this computer about a year ago, and from the start, I occasionally received a "No signal" error on my screen. Restarting or updating drivers usually fixed it, but the problem has recently turned persistent. Currently, I'm using a Display Port cable with my BenQ XL2430T monitor, which is older but still works well. A couple of weeks ago, the "No signal" message became constant unless I connect the monitor to the motherboard instead of the GPU. I've confirmed that the cable and monitor work, as they function perfectly with an older PC connected via DVI. I took the system back to the store under warranty, and they found nothing wrong, but the issue continues at home. The screen detects the connection but often says it's "out of range". I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed and could use your help!

It could be the cable, especially if it’s a cheaper model that might have faults. Check to see if the pin configuration is accurate—sometimes, a faulty cable can lead to permanent issues. You should definitely try a reputable DP cable and see if that helps before worrying about more significant problems. Maybe something like an AmazonBasics DP cable could be a good start, as they’re affordable and generally reliable.

Thanks! I grabbed a random cable that claimed to support FHD 144Hz, but it could be worth investing in a trusted brand.

You might want to look into the Display Port cable itself. Sometimes, cables can have issues that don't show up until there’s a roadblock. If everything seems fine but the DVI works well with the old PC, maybe try a different DP cable that's rated correctly for your monitor's needs. I’d suggest getting a high-quality cable, just to rule that out.

Good point! Just to be clear, the DVI is connected to my old PC, and the new one has a different GPU, the RTX 4070 Super, which is where the issue lies.
