Understanding PCIe Lane Sharing on Asus ROG Strix X670-I

Hey everyone! Before I go through the hassle of taking apart my whole PC to check the riser cable, I was hoping to get some insights on the PCIe lane sharing situation with the Asus ROG Strix X670-I motherboard. My GPU is currently running at x8 5.0 instead of the expected x16 5.0, and I couldn't find any information in the manual. Just to mention, I have two M.2 drives installed and I'm using a Gen 5 riser. Any thoughts or experiences with this setup would be appreciated. Thanks!

It sounds like you're using a riser cable that might be affecting your GPU's lane allocation. On the X670-I, since there's only one PCIe slot, the extra lanes are usually allocated to the M.2 ports instead. So, you're likely not experiencing lane sharing issues there! You won't have any lane sharing conflicts with this board.

That makes sense! I saw that the manual mentions M.2_2 is linked to the chipset, so I figured the lanes were being given to the M.2 slots.
