Unexpectedly High Cost for My Gaming PC Build – Need Affordable Recommendations

Hi everyone! I initially aimed to build a gaming PC for around 800€, but I ended up with a total cost closer to 1500€ after finding a great deal on a CPU. Now that I've already purchased the CPU, I'm looking for advice on how to optimize the rest of my build and avoid overspending without sacrificing too much performance. Here's my planned setup with the prices I've found:

- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - 270€ (already bought)
- **GPU**: Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5060 Ti WINDFORCE MAX OC 16GB - 400€
- **Motherboard**: ASUS TUF GAMING B650-PLUS (AM5, ATX) - 135€
- **RAM**: TBD (~300€)
- **CPU Cooler**: be quiet! Pure Rock 3 - 24€
- **PSU**: be quiet! Pure Power 13 M 750W - 107€
- **Case**: TBD (~100€)
- **SSD**: Crucial P3 Plus 1TB - 119€

The total is approximately 1500€, which exceeds my initial budget. I'm curious:
- Are any components here unnecessarily expensive?
- Where could I save money first, considering the CPU is already fixed?
- Are there better value alternatives I could consider?

Thanks for any feedback!

Your specs look quite similar to mine. I built my PC with a Ryzen 5 9600X and a 5060 Ti and spent around 1200€ overall. Sometimes, you have to compromise or adjust expectations depending on prices!

For 1440p gaming, you’re mostly going to be GPU-bound anyway, so I wonder why you'd pick a top-tier CPU with a mid-range GPU.

If RAM pricing seems off to you, perhaps consider finding cheaper alternatives for your SSD and PSU as well. You shouldn't need to lock into that motherboard; choosing a B850 could save some cash while meeting your needs. Also, a less expensive power supply would work just fine!

Everything looks solid, but since you're already over budget, I'd suggest holding off on getting RAM until prices stabilize. If you can, aim for the 5070 Ti instead; it's a good investment for the next few years. Just a thought, though—prices fluctuate so much, and waiting could mean missing out.

Yeah, I'm aware RAM prices can be tricky. It's tough waiting when I want to build now!

Waiting might be risky; do we even know if they'll go down soon?

Honestly, if you're going for an 800€ build, the 7800X3D is overkill. The 7600 would have been a better choice at around 100€ less. Plus, the TUF series motherboards are generally for builds over 1000€. A Prime motherboard would better fit your budget. Be mindful spending so much on the GPU with current RAM prices; it might not be worth it. I recommend checking out PC Part Picker to compare and find better options.

You could definitely save some cash on the case! Look into budget-friendly options from brands like Montech; you can often find cases under 100€ that come with fans. Just ensure it's well-ventilated, and remember, a fancy case doesn't give you extra FPS! Also, consider if the 9060 XT might be a cheaper GPU option for you.
