I'm making the jump from an AM3 setup because I really need more power for my work with multiple documents and virtual machines running simultaneously. Plus, I want to play some games (like Dawn of War and Starcraft) without worrying about performance. Here's my current setup:
- ASUS Crosshair V Formula-Z Motherboard
- AMD FX-8350 8 Core CPU
- 32GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 (4x8GB)
- SAPPHIRE AMD Radeon RX Vega 64 8GB GPU
- Corsair CP-9020139-UK HX1000 1000W 80+ Platinum PSU
I'm upgrading to the following components:
- ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming motherboard
- AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT 16 Core AM4 CPU
- Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO SL 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 3200 MHz C16
- WD Black SN7100 2TB NVME (Primary and Secondary Drives)
- I'll stick with my existing 1000W PSU.
I'm debating whether to go for a mid-range graphics card like the Gigabyte Radeon OC 9060XT 16GB or Asus Radeon 9060XT 16GB since I'm moving to triple display setups. I also have an ASUS AMD Radeon RX 7600 OC in storage for a temporary dual monitor solution if needed. Looking back, I wish I had opted for the AM5 kit earlier. What are your thoughts?

Given the prices you paid, I'd have opted for the AM5 socket and maybe a 7600. Where are you located? Pricing can vary a lot depending on your country. I'd still say your system is solid though! My 5950X is running great with 64GB RAM after I got a fantastic discount. You might want to check out local marketplaces for better deals.
Hey, fellow FX-8350 user! That combo was legendary for overclocking. Upgrading to Ryzen will be a game changer for you—trust me, you'll notice the difference! The 9060XT should serve you well for your needs and is reasonably priced.
You just need a GPU with more than two outputs for three displays; the 9060XT 16GB should work fine. If you’re not into heavy graphics tasks, it’s one of the more economical routes to take.
Don't beat yourself up too much! Sometimes waiting is the right move. For three displays, you usually don’t need hefty VRAM or processing power. You can save some cash if you choose your GPU wisely—most modern GPUs can handle three displays without issues, though you might need an adapter.
Honestly, your build isn't a bad choice, but if you bought the RAM from Amazon, you might have overpaid a bit. I hope you found a good deal on the 5900XT! If you paid full price, you might have been better off going with AM5 directly instead of sticking with AM4.
The RAM was indeed cheaper on Amazon by about $12, but you could only purchase one kit per account from Corsair's site, which was annoying. I got the CPU from Scan for £272.47 including shipping. Amazon's prices were inflated with import fees.

Yeah, considering OP's been on AM3 for a while, I think sticking with the 9060XTs is the way to go!
