Upgrading from RX 570: Should I Buy a New GPU Now or Wait?

I've been using an Intel Core i5-10400 with an RX 570 4GB for about five years, but I'm starting to face some GPU issues—random crashes and display problems (like not being able to set my 2K monitor to 280Hz), plus it's just not performing well anymore. I'm planning to upgrade to an RTX 5070 Ti and then revamp the rest of my system for my birthday in April 2026. I know there's going to be a bottleneck since my CPU is getting older, but I want to make sure running the 5070 Ti on my current setup won't damage anything. Will I still be able to enjoy gaming without issues despite the CPU limitation? Should I grab the GPU now or wait until I can upgrade everything at once? I want to game without crashes and dive into new AAA titles.

It won’t hurt anything to upgrade your GPU. Just make sure your power supply unit (PSU) can support it! You'll definitely need a robust PSU to handle the 5070 Ti.

You'll want at least a 750W PSU for the 5070 Ti. Check that you have two 8-pin connectors, and maybe even daisy chain an extra one into the adapter that comes with the GPU. Limiting your frame rates can also help with any stuttering problems.

Your CPU isn't that old, but your GPU is. I use an i7 from the 3rd gen and play modern games at 1080p smoothly. Just keep an eye on your CPU and GPU temperatures; often, reapplying thermal paste can resolve many issues.
