Upgrading My Monitor for Casual Gaming – Need Recommendations!

I'm currently using a 3840x2160 monitor, but it's getting pretty old and outdated. I want to upgrade without breaking the bank since I'm not looking for the fanciest model. I mainly play FPS games, but also enjoy older titles like Space Engineers and Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005), along with some RTS games such as Sins of a Solar Empire. I'm more of a casual gamer, usually playing for an hour or two each session, so as long as the graphics look decent and there's no buffering, I'm satisfied.

I found a monitor at Costco from MSI with a resolution of 2560x1440 for around $150. Is this a good option? What are the specs? Also, what do you think of brands like KTC on Amazon—are they worth considering?

It's tough to give specs on a random monitor without more details. If you only caught the resolution on the price tag, maybe check out MSI's website for model specifics or ask staff at the store for more info. Also, don't stress too much about those Amazon brands; some of them are pretty decent, even if the prices seem too good to be true. Just look for reviews!

That MSI monitor sounds like a solid choice with great specs for a good price! If you're looking for specific recommendations, you might want to check out what’s available at Best Buy as well. They've got a similar model right now that could be worth considering.

The 7800 XT is great for 1440p. You should definitely look for a 27" 1440p monitor with at least 144Hz and HDR support. Good brands include AOC and KTC (Koorui is under KTC, if I remember right). AOC has been reliable for a long time. The Costco monitor should work fine for your needs, but IPS panels are generally better for clarity while VA panels are good for deeper blacks, although they may ghost sometimes.
