Upgrading My PC: Should I Go with AMD or Intel?

I built my PC in 2023, and lately, I've been using it for more than just gaming. My current setup isn't cutting it anymore because I'm hitting the "recommended specs" for some programs I'm running. Here are my current specs: Intel i5 10600 with 16GB DDR4. The minimum specs I see recommended are an 8-core CPU and 64GB of RAM, while the optimal specs go up to a 16-core CPU with 64GB to 128GB of RAM.

I'm looking at two upgrade options: For AM4, I can get a 5950x, a new motherboard, and 64GB of 3200MHz RAM for about 135k JPY. For AM5, the 9950x, a new motherboard, and 64GB of 6400MHz RAM would cost around 220k JPY. Given the current price situation, which option would be the best investment now and for the future? Also, are there any Intel options worth considering?

What motherboard do you currently have? Depending on that, you might have Intel upgrade options available. Adding another 16GB of DDR4 would provide a significant boost without needing to replace everything. 32GB can make a noticeable difference!

I'm using a z490i motherboard, but it's an ITX, which limits me to just two RAM slots. So, upgrading means I need a whole new set.
