Hey everyone! It's Prime Day on Amazon, and I just found a Ryzen 7 5800XT on sale for 48% off. I'm thinking of upgrading my system with this, plus I've also seen a used RTX 3080 on eBay and I might grab another 16GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM (either 3200MHz or 3600MHz). Here are my current specs:
- Ryzen 5 1500X
- MSI Twin Frozr RTX 2060
- 2x8GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4
- Gigabyte AORUS Elite B450 motherboard
- Thermaltake SmartPower 700W PSU
- WD Blue 1TB NVMe SSD
I'm concerned about potential bottlenecks between the 5800XT and the 3080. When it comes to getting a GPU, should I go for a new RTX 3060, a used RTX 3070, or grab the used RTX 3080? Also, what should I prepare for or do once the new parts arrive?

Have you checked how much the used 3080 is going for? I think it's around $400 these days. If you find one, ask the seller about its previous usage and how long they've had it. It gives you a better idea of its condition before buying.
What’s a good strategy to negotiate with sellers who are open to offers? This is my first time buying on eBay.
First off, definitely check if you need to update your motherboard's BIOS once you get the new parts. The combination of a Ryzen 5800XT and RTX 3080 was a popular choice back when they dropped, so you're on the right track! Also, consider upgrading to an 800W power supply for better stability with those components.
Yeah, I’ve seen them in the high 300 to low 400 range, too.
