Upgrading my PC with a new GPU and PSU—need some advice!

Hey everyone! I've decided to upgrade my computer and I just received a generous gift from a friend who parted out his old PC. He gave me an AMD Radeon RX 570 with 8GB and a Thermaltake Litepower 650W power supply. Right now, I've got an NVIDIA GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB, an Intel Core i7-4770 processor, and a pretty outdated setup including a Dell motherboard and a 290W power supply that doesn't come from a known brand. I also have 16GB of DDR3 RAM, a nearly full 110GB SSD, and a 1TB HDD running Windows 10.

I have several questions regarding the installation:
1. Will the new GPU work with my older motherboard and CPU?
2. Is it necessary to replace my power supply, even though I'm not sure if it'll fit in my case?
3. As someone who's not very experienced with hardware upgrades, are there any installation tips I should keep in mind, especially concerning drivers? Also, any good tutorials you recommend?
4. What other components should I consider upgrading next?

Sorry if this message is a bit awkward; I'm typing from my phone. Thanks for any and all help!

Yeah, the RX 570 is definitely an upgrade! Your motherboard should support it since GPU compatibility hasn't changed much over the years. It's important to use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to wipe the old drivers before installing the new GPU. As for your PSU, since it's fairly weak at 290W, I recommend changing it out to avoid any power issues. You’ll probably need a better one for the RX 570, and make sure it fits in your case! If you're unsure about anything, there are plenty of helpful video tutorials out there.

Thanks for the input! Just to clarify, my PSU is indeed 290 watts. I appreciate the DDU tip, I'll definitely check out some videos!

The new GPU should work fine with your current setup, but just double-check that your motherboard has the right slots. Since you're using a Dell Optiplex, the proprietary nature might pose a challenge when replacing parts like the PSU. You may have limited space for the new power supply due to its size. If everything fits, great! Just be cautious when swapping hardware, run some tests with your old setup first to catch any issues. As for upgrading next, consider eventually getting a new motherboard and CPU for better performance overall. That'll help you when you want to upgrade other components in the future!

Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure to run some tests first as suggested. And yeah, I’ll start saving for a new motherboard and CPU!
