Hey everyone! I'm currently using a PRO X870-P WIFI with an AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and have 64GB of Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 RAM running at PC6000 CL30. While I've been happy with the speed so far, I'm starting to hit the limits of my RAM and I'm considering an upgrade. I'm curious about what RAM kits I should look for and how noticeable a drop in speed would be when increasing the capacity. Any firsthand experiences or recommendations would really help! Thanks!

Why do you need more than 64GB of RAM? Just wondering! But honestly, adding more RAM sticks should not hurt your performance. The only significant drop would occur if you were to lower RAM frequency, which typically isn't a huge deal. So if you need more capacity, go for it!
Yeah, I fill up 64GB quite easily when running large AI models, even with a 40GB swap, I get close to running out of memory sometimes.
AMD actually suggests that the 7800X3D performs better with either 2 sticks at 5200MHz or 4 sticks at 3600MHz. It's a bit frustrating because you may have to lower the RAM speeds to get the system to boot with 4 sticks. My advice is to consider selling your current RAM and go for a new kit with either 2x48GB or 2x64GB. It's probably a simpler solution!
Sounds like a plan! I think I’ll go for the 2x64GB kit as I want to keep the rest of my setup stable. Definitely a frustrating situation, but worth upgrading!

Just to clarify, if you don’t remove the current RAM, you might run into issues. The AM5 platform usually prefers just 2 sticks of DDR5 to work well. You might want to check out a 128GB kit like this one: [Link]. Speed-wise, it should be similar to what you’re using now.
