I recently upgraded my GPU from a 3060 Ti to a 9070 XT and I'm not seeing the frame rates I hoped for in games like Valorant, League, Arc Raiders, and FFXIV. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, a B550 AORUS Elite motherboard, a Samsung 980 SSD, and 32GB of RAM. I've done a couple of DDU cleanups, but I'm still concerned since I'm plugged into the GPU on my motherboard. Should I be expecting more consistent frames, or is this typical? Any tips would be appreciated!

Keep in mind, those games are generally optimized for Nvidia cards, so even with a powerful AMD GPU, you might not get the expected performance boost. If you're playing at 1080p, your CPU could be what's holding you back. You might want to consider cranking up the graphics settings to max to see if it helps relieve some pressure on the CPU.
Basically, at 1080p, the 5600X is likely limiting your performance. If you want to fully utilize the 9070 XT, consider upgrading to a higher resolution monitor or a stronger CPU. That should take advantage of the GPU's capabilities better.
When you mention you're plugged into the GPU on the motherboard, do you mean you're using the integrated graphics instead of the dedicated GPU? That would definitely limit performance! Also, what resolution are you playing at?
I had a similar issue, but I managed to fix it by turning off a certain AMD setting in my BIOS. Would you like me to check what exactly I changed? It might just do the trick for your setup too!
Yes, please! That would be super helpful.
It sounds like those games are pretty CPU bound, so you might not see a big boost just from upgrading your GPU. I've experienced similar results; when I moved from a 3070 to a 9070 XT, the frame rates in games like Valorant and FFXIV didn't change much either. I actually saw a significant jump in FPS only after upgrading my CPU.
That's interesting! I was hoping for more of a difference. Might look into upgrading my CPU later!

I might try that! Waiting until payday to give it a go.
