After a recent Windows update, I'm experiencing issues where my mouse and keyboard, along with all other USB devices, have stopped functioning. They work fine before Windows boots up, so I can still access the BIOS. I attempted to enter recovery mode using a bootable USB drive, but system restore isn't cooperating. It prompts me to specify a drive for restoration and instructs me to restart my PC, but I don't see any new options upon reboot. My operating system is Windows 11, and I could really use some guidance here!

It sounds like your USB drivers might be corrupted after the update. If your motherboard still has a PS/2 port, you could connect an old keyboard or mouse that uses that. Once you have access, you can try to update your drivers from the manufacturer's website. If that doesn't work, a clean reinstall of Windows could be necessary.
Be cautious with BIOS settings; adjusting them can lead to data loss. Make sure your backups are in order before making any changes! If you're having trouble with system restore, it may be better to seek professional support.
Just out of curiosity, is your PC an HP z240?

Nope, I built this one myself.
