I'm having a problem with my USB drive. I've been using it mainly for movies on my smart TV, but it suddenly stopped showing up in File Explorer. I checked Disk Management, and the drive is visible there, showing that the partition is healthy. I even managed to create a new partition in Disk Management, which now appears in File Explorer, but the main partition, where most of my files are stored, still doesn't show up.
I've tried various troubleshooting steps like uninstalling and reinstalling drivers, testing different USB ports, and performing Windows updates, but nothing seems to work. I've also plugged the USB into another PC, and only the small partition I created is accessible, while the primary 13GB partition with my important files is still missing. When I attempt to assign a drive letter to the USB, I'm told the operation failed. Any suggestions on how to recover or access my files?

It sounds like your USB drive might be having some serious issues. If it's showing up in Disk Management but not in File Explorer, the partition might not have a drive letter assigned to it. This can happen when Windows doesn't know how to read that partition. If you have another device that can read the drive, like your TV, it could mean that the partition format isn't compatible with Windows. You could try using data recovery software to see if you can get your files back, but be careful not to modify anything on the drive, as that could cause more problems.

Hey, just a thought - if the drive is still showing as healthy, does that really mean it’s a hardware failure? I was able to create that new partition, so does that signal that the drive might still be okay?
