Using Linux Mint in a Virtual Machine: Daily Tasks and Gaming Feasibility

Hey everyone! I'm curious if I can effectively use Linux Mint from a virtual machine for everyday tasks, like browsing the internet, and also play games using Steam. How will my VPN and security measures function if I do this? Additionally, can I run Mint in a VM on a second monitor while gaming on my main screen? Lastly, is it possible to install the virtual machine on a secondary hard drive? I have a hard drive with plenty of storage space. Thanks for any insights!

Running a virtual machine can have its downsides since it splits your hardware resources. Without a dedicated GPU for the VM, you might struggle with gaming performance. However, if your Windows OS is using a VPN, you should be fine on that front, though remember that a VPN doesn't provide complete security. It's also important to note that an HDD will be considerably slower than an SSD, so it’s better to run your VM from an SSD if possible.

Thanks for the info! I'm planning to upgrade to a new PC in a few months and will use my current SSD then. For now, I’ll work with the HDD while I learn Mint. I've already got antivirus and a VPN, so I guess I'm covered on that end!
