Water Damage in Phone Charging Port: What Should I Do?

So, I accidentally got some water in my phone's charging port while showering. I took all the recommended precautions like keeping it in a dry spot and avoiding charging it for a while. After about 2 hours, I tried plugging it back in and it showed it was charging, but the next morning it was down to 40% and not charging anymore. I borrowed a wireless charger which worked temporarily, but now I'm on a break without access to it. When I tried my charger again a few hours ago, it flickered saying it was charging but then cut out completely. I've cleaned the port, and there are no alerts on my phone about issues. This is an iPhone 13 Pro Max I've had for around 3.5 years. Should I consider repairs or just get a new phone? Any advice would help!

If water got inside your phone, two hours probably isn't enough time to fully dry it out before plugging it back in. That likely contributed to the charging issues. At this point, I'd lean toward getting a new phone, especially if it's not charging at all now. Repair costs might not be worth it for an older model like yours.

Absolutely! Plus, you should’ve turned it off right away to avoid any potential short-circuiting.

Using your phone in the shower can be risky, especially with older models. Given that your phone is about 3 years old, the water seals aren't as effective anymore, so it's likely some internal circuits got damaged from the water. Repairing it might cost less than a brand new phone, but considering its age, it might not be worth it in the long run. You should probably start looking at new options.

I get that! I don't often shower with mine, but if I do, it's usually for quick things. Just know that if you're using it around water often, it might be worth looking into a waterproof case.
