I built my PC around 10 years ago and have only updated the CPU once since then. I'm not sure how much longer it has left, but I want to explore my upgrade options before prices go up. I don't use my PC regularly, so I'm okay with making slow upgrades or buying second-hand parts. I'm looking to spend under $1,000 but would consider $1,500 if it means getting a better system for the future. Here's what my current setup looks like:
- **Computer:** MSI MS-7C52
- **CPU:** AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- **Motherboard:** MSI B450M-A PRO MAX
- **Memory:** 16GB DDR4 SDRAM
- **Graphics:** GIGABYTE GTX 1060 6GB
- **Drive:** INTEL 600GB SATA SSD
- **OS:** Windows 10 Home

Your PC build seems a bit off—the CPU you mentioned isn't compatible with that motherboard. Can you let us know where you're located? It would also help if you could run an HWInfo report for a better look at your setup. That way, we can suggest specific components for your upgrade!
I've seen DDR4 RAM that runs at 1333MHz, but that usually indicates an older system. Wouldn't hurt to double-check your specs!
Consider upgrading to a Ryzen 5 5600 or 5700X, plus a GPU like the 5060 Ti or 9060 XT. Depending on your budget, you might also look into getting more RAM, but it's not super critical right now. If you're thinking long-term, it might pay off to wait and see if DDR5 pricing improves.
Thanks for the suggestions! Do you think it's a good idea to boost my DDR4 RAM now or just hold out for DDR5?
I just made a similar jump from a GTX 1060 build! If you're looking for mid-range parts, check out Tom's Hardware. I built a nice rig capable of 4K for about $1,000 without counting the monitor or peripherals.
Could you share what components you used? I think I’ll need to upgrade my PSU too, so I want to plan it out.

Thanks for the heads-up! I thought my setup was more current. I’ll make sure to format my post better and add that info.
