If you're leaning towards something more affordable, I sold my 1080 Ti and picked up a 9060 XT. It doesn't have the same power as the 1080, but it’s a decent sidegrade. Just keep your expectations in check if you go that route.
Consider the 4070 or even a used 3080. The new generation does seem a bit overhyped with the RTX and ray tracing requirements, but if you can find a good deal on one, it could be worth it.
Don't forget about the 9070 or 9070 XT, especially if you can find one near MSRP. Those could be solid upgrades without stretching your budget too much.
If you're looking for something within your budget, I would definitely recommend checking out a used 3080. They're a great option right now, offering plenty of power for 1440p gaming, and they can handle games like Doom without any issues. Plus, their prices have dropped quite a bit lately.
