Hey everyone! I'm on the lookout for some free alternatives to AutoCAD that I can run on Linux. Ideally, these options should allow me to open and save files in the AutoCAD format. Any suggestions?

If you don’t necessarily need 3D capabilities, LibreCAD is a solid choice for 2D work. Plus, it’s user-friendly and free, making it perfect for a lot of projects!
You might want to check out LibreCAD and FreeCAD. LibreCAD is great for 2D designs, while FreeCAD can handle both 2D and impressive 3D modeling. Just keep in mind that compatibility with AutoCAD's DWG files can be a bit tricky!
Have you heard of GStarCAD? It’s another option, but it might not be free. Just depends on what you're looking to achieve with your designs!

Yeah, I'd second that! FreeCAD is particularly nice for 3D projects, though it's good to know the DWG compatibility can be hit or miss.
