I'm new to the world of Linux and have previously experimented with Linux Mint. I enjoyed the software store and speed of the apps but wasn't a fan of the GUI. I switched to Ubuntu, which I really like, except for the snaps. Some apps run better when I use the flatpak version instead. I'm looking for a Linux distribution similar to Ubuntu, with a user-friendly app store, that doesn't use snaps by default. Any suggestions?

If you're looking for something different, give Fedora Workstation a shot. It has a different packaging system but is still easy to use and features vanilla GNOME.
I think either Debian or PopOS would suit your needs well. Both are pretty user-friendly and don’t include snaps by default.
Have you considered OpenSUSE? It’s another great option that avoids using snaps.
You can stick with Ubuntu and just remove snaps if they annoy you. Then, you can add Flatpak support instead, which allows you to install apps without the snap packaging system.
Debian 12 is a solid choice since it’s based on Ubuntu. It doesn't use snaps and generally offers a stable experience.
