What are some lightweight Linux distros for my Chromebook?

I've recently installed Linux on my Samsung Chromebook 3, which has a CELES board, 4GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a Celeron N3060 CPU. Right now, I'm using Linux Mint with the XFCE desktop environment, but the CPU usage spikes to around 90%, causing the system to slow down significantly. I'm looking for suggestions on possible fixes or alternative lightweight Linux distributions that might perform better on my setup.

If you're open to using a window manager instead of a full desktop environment, you might want to look into something like Mabox Linux. It’s lightweight, and I find it runs pretty well with just 4GB of RAM.

You should give AntiX a shot! It's super lightweight and works well on lower-spec hardware.

Tiny Core Linux is also worth checking out. It's extremely lightweight and designed for very old hardware, so it could be a perfect fit!

I had good luck with FydeOS, which is basically ChromeOS with additional Linux functionality. It only used about 110MB of RAM after running a YouTube video for hours, which is impressive for a low-spec machine.

Yeah, I think ChromeOS is already Linux at its core, so that could be an interesting option!

Have you considered Lubuntu? It's optimized for older machines, so it might run smoother on yours.
