What are Some Lightweight Linux Distros for Web Development?

Hey everyone! I'm currently using Linux Mint as a web developer, but it's a bit too resource-heavy for my liking. I'm on the hunt for a lightweight Linux distribution that's not only efficient but also developer-friendly. I need something that runs smoothly with my essential tools like VS Code, Node.js, Docker, Git, and browsers. I have some experience with Linux, so I'm also open to minimal options if they provide better performance. Can anyone recommend a good lightweight distro that fits the bill? Thanks for your help!

Lubuntu is a solid choice if you’re looking for something that runs quickly, especially on older hardware. While I haven't used it for development myself, I've heard good things. You might also want to explore Mate or XFCE desktop environments, which are known to be lighter than Cinnamon on Linux Mint.

Consider using a window manager instead of a full desktop environment since they generally consume fewer resources. You might want to check out options like Sway, Hyprland, or bspwm. They can significantly boost your system performance while still allowing for a smooth workflow.

If you're feeling adventurous, you could try Arch Linux. It’s super lightweight and you can customize it as you like. Just be prepared for a bit of a learning curve. However, I'd suggest skipping Kali Linux unless you need its specific tools; it's not ideal as a general-purpose OS.
