I'm putting together a Linux PC using leftover parts after upgrading my other machines. I already have an Intel i5-9600KF CPU but need a GPU that won't break the bank. My goal is to learn Linux and experiment with different distros. What cheap GPU would you recommend that works well with Linux?

If you're on a very tight budget, I’d suggest looking into the AMD RX 580. It’s a solid performer on Linux, especially for beginners. The RX 5700XT or 6600XT are also great options if you can stretch your budget a bit. If you prefer Nvidia, a 10 series card or something like a GTX 1660-2060 would work too, but I'd stay away from the GT 1030 and older GTX 900 series if you want decent performance.

I might want to do some light gaming eventually, but it’s not my main focus initially.

You might want to check out either new or used options like the R7 260X or R9 270X; they work great on Linux. Also, keep an eye out for older Nvidia Quadro cards like the 2000 or 4000 series. They should be fine for everyday tasks and wouldn't cost much.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ll look into those cards.
