Hey everyone, I'm a student really concerned about privacy in today's world. It feels like things are looking pretty grim in that department, and I want to do everything I can to protect myself. I'm curious to know which Linux distribution would be the best for privacy. I'm looking for something that resets with every boot and can route my internet traffic through the Tor browser. Also, would it be sufficient to run this OS in a virtual machine while using a system-wide VPN on my actual computer to hide my IP address? I'm pretty new to all this, so any advice would be really helpful!

If you don't want to go with something very obscure, most Linux distros (except maybe Ubuntu) are pretty good in terms of avoiding tracking. Just be cautious about what personal info you share online. Use your discretion!
For serious privacy, look into Whonix or Qubes OS. You can run Whonix on Qubes for added security. They are designed with anonymity in mind and are great options for users concerned about privacy.
You might want to check out Tails OS. It's specifically designed for privacy and security, booting from a USB stick so every session starts fresh. It routes your traffic through Tor, which is exactly what you need!
It's true that the choice of web browser can be even more critical for your privacy. Make sure to use something privacy-oriented, like LibreWolf, or at least keep your browsing habits in check while using any distro.
Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely keep an eye on what I share.
