I'm looking for recommendations for good Configuration Management Database (CMDB) software that can handle both virtual and physical inventory. It must be capable of on-prem deployment due to compliance requirements, which narrows down the options we can consider. Ideally, we need it to manage rack elevation diagrams, port maps, server and VM inventory, configuration management, and to track what's installed on each server. We're not focused on change management features since another team handles that with a different tool. I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who has personal experience with these kinds of tools and can share their thoughts or recommendations!

I've heard ManageEngine Asset Explorer includes a CMDB module. It could be worthwhile to look into if you're considering multiple options.
Just a heads up, keep in mind that while these tools can simplify things, you'll still need to maintain them regularly. However, it might be a lot better than doing manual inventory audits in Excel!
You might also want to check out NetBox with the Services plugin. It excels at rack and cabling documentation, and it’s totally free, which is a bonus!
At my workplace, we use GLPI, and it works pretty well for our needs. It's versatile and has a good feature set for managing both virtual and physical assets.
GLPI is a solid choice if you need something that's proven. It's often bundled with helpdesk software, which is nice.
